Faucet
Web App Design

About the project
Faucet is a product initiative designed to convert faucet users into long term Node API customers while minimizing friction and abuse. Rather than treating the faucet as a standalone utility, it was repositioned as a strategic entry point into the broader ecosystem.
As Product Design Lead, I restructured the experience around tier based workflows for free and scale users, defined upgrade paths, and integrated automatic Node API key generation to deepen activation. I redesigned core flows for free requests, limit exceed upgrades, and higher tier allocations, while removing unnecessary constraints such as time locks and external wallet balance requirements to streamline onboarding.
To prevent abuse without adding user friction, I proposed automated safeguards including IP rate limiting and device fingerprinting, supported by lightweight email verification. After evaluating compute unit based gating and other monetization models, I simplified the mechanism to a fixed monthly free allocation with a soft conversion path that encourages Node API adoption rather than direct token sales.
This project transformed the faucet from a cost center into a growth lever aligned with long term developer engagement.
